A computer and a radio transceiver is required to operate the SAFE EMS.
This section details the computer requirement.
Details about the Transceiver requirement are given in Section D Radio Setup.
The SAFE EMS requires a PC computer - desktop or laptop.
We have not experimented how it might work on say an Apple that emulates a PC.
A battery operated laptop would be ideal in an emergency situation, when there is no power,
and even that would require a method for recharging the battery.
Details regarding supplying emergency power for a desktop computer are found in the Power section.
The computer must have loaded onto it the free SAFE EMS Software described in Section "C User Interface". The free software may be installed from the USB memory stick that comes with the SAFE Transceiver or it may be downloaded from some location on-line such www.webpal.org/ham/SAFE_EMS/SAFE.exe or from any other obtainable source.
The computer requirements are:
A)Operating System: The SAFE EMS User Interface should run on all Windows systems
(Windows NT, 2000, XPor later)
B) Memory: ___________________
C) 2.4GHz should be more than ideal for multiple channel decoding.
D) Sound board connection plug for Microphone {or sound in-line).
